- Work carried out by another jeweller
- Normal wear on plating
- Loss or theft — insure the piece separately
On watches: aftermarket setting on a timepiece voids the manufacturer's warranty. We say so before we start, and we put our own warranty on our work in writing.

Looking After It Yourself
Last on, first off
Put jewellery on after lotion, cologne and hairspray, and take it off before the gym, the pool and the shower.
Warm water, soft brush
A drop of dish soap in warm water and a soft toothbrush restores most of the sparkle. Skip ultrasonics on emeralds, opals and pearls.
Bring it in
A two-minute inspection catches a loosening prong before you lose the stone. This is the single best thing you can do.
Come in yearly
Free inspection catches a loose claw before you lose a stone. That is the whole point of it.
